- Light Lab
The Light Lab is for use in the classroom. You can use it to demonstrate color, direction, gobos, and instrumentation without setting up equipment in another space.
These pages are not a full-fledge virtual lighting system. However, they run with regular old HTML in a normal browser, and use no flash. Because of this, they are convenient to use on any browser, tablet, or smartphone, and you do not have to install anything. Feel free to share these pages with students.
There are four components: Instruments, a Color Lab, a Gobo Lab, and a Dance Lighting Lab. It is included at both Classroom Scenography.net and at BroadwayEducators.com.
- The Drama Machine
This is a virtual machine. It randomly combines production variables: Script, Director’s Concept, Venue, Budget, and Time. It churns out the circumstances for a hypothetical production with gaudy special effects and noises. Have students come up to the machine, one at a time, and generate a new set of circumstances. This turns your class into a game show for the day, and inspires extraordinary discussion about how designing is always problem solving.
The Drama Machine is available through BroadwayEducators.com
